With a steady stream of brain training games for the DS and Wii, Nintendo is now focusing on physical training in order to give gamers both a sound mind and body. Wii Fit is a new fitness game that challenges a player’s physical attributes and helps to make exercising more fun.
The game is packaged with a balance board which acts as an especially designed controller. With it, players can sit, stand, do push-ups, and try to balance themselves while following the game’s instructions on screen. Anything from muscle work outs, aerobic exercises, and Yoga are preset with virtual instructors to help anyone get fit.
Wii Fit is also customizable in the sense that the game’s difficulty is set depending on the player’s age, weight, and height. If a player is considered, by proportion, to have an ideal weight, the game gives that player a more strenuous workout as an added challenge. Whereas if a player is considered overweight, workout routines are more forgiving but gets harder with each passing day. By monitoring your BMI, the game keeps a daily track record of all your progress and even gives you dieting tips. Of course, you can also set your own goals when it comes to achieving your desired BMI or ideal body weight.
Many people have already caught the Wii Fit bug in Europe and Japan. It would be no surprise that this new form of exercise/game will take the U.S. by storm when it comes out May 21, 2008 for $89.99
