Videogaming is at the dawn of a new age. With the introduction of the Wii, and easily accessible music games like Guitar Hero and Rock Band (not to mention the fact that developers are starting to look more into creating games that appeal to a larger audience) the division between hardcore and casual gamers are becoming ever the more apparent.
But what about those gamers who transcend this arguable binary opposition? They’re the ones who make the word “hardcore” seem inadequate when describing their insatiable thirst for gaming. They probably couldn’t care less about so called casual gamers either. For them, a game is a game, is a game.
So, let us pay homage to these indescribable gamers with an unfathomable passion for what they do, one that they will more than likely take to the grave with them. Let us also stare in awe, while some of you may ask what the fuck were they thinking, and nonetheless appreciate, or try to appreciate how, for them, life imitates art.
