After the news that Tim Burton will direct a 3D version of Alice in Wonderland, he’s already off to an new and exciting project: the movie adaptation of the 60’s gothic series Dark Shadows. Johnny Depp’s production company is involved and the project and it is said that he’ll play the lead Count Barnabas Collins.
The vintage vampire and werewolves series was resurrected in the 90’s but this is still the first time I’ve heard of it. If the show got Tim Burton interested enough, then it’s definitely good for me. John August, famous for penning the scripts of Big Fish, Corpse Bride and Charlie’s Angels, is already working on the script for Dark Shadows and just the thought of him joining Depp and Burton is sending my imagination off faster than a silver bullet from Buffy the Vampire Slayer’s girly gun. No casting news are yet revealed, but this movie is definitely going to be one magical and surreal fangs and crosses extravaganza.

This is awesome news, thanks! I think it’s neat how they are both fans of the old soap!
