This volcano’s tip-like attraction is called The Door to Hell located in the small town of Darvaz, Uzbekistan. Although it just looks like a giant pimple that erupted, there’s a story behind it.
While geologists were drilling deep down the earth for natural gas, their mega drills hit a cavern where scientists detected poisonous gas. It got so deep that their drilling site and all the equipment all went under. I presume Uzbekistans think before they act, for no brave soul ever dared to go down.Who would go down in an underground cavern filled with poisonous gas? It’s like taking a plunge into a pool of muriatic acid. To prevent the possible outbreak and spreading of the harmful intoxicants, they ignited it. Yep, they decided to just throw a lighter in there. Just kidding, of course it took more than a lighter because it hasn’t stopped burning for 35 years straight.
Just imagine how much gas they have been burning in the Door to Hell. If the discovery went smoothly and if the geologists haven’t hit a damn cavern, it should have been a great offering to mankind and not some useless (almost very dangerous) scenic spot. Maybe this was the country’s But don’t get me wrong, it is a wonder to look at, it almost makes me imagine Little Nicky’s or some movie devil’s clan actually lives inside the burning hole.
If your daddy’s looking a perfect place to hold your annual family barbecue, then Darvaz, Uzbekistan is the place to be. Just imagine how many trucks of ribs and burgers will be done in an hour!
