90’s kids are fortunate to grow up in a decade of great musical innovation. Nirvana, Stone Temple Pilots, Soundgarden, Rage Against the Machine, No Doubt, Blur, Silver Chair, Green Day and many other musical geniuses made the 90’s a memorable decade for millions of teenagers around the world. Luckily for the next generations who were too young to appreciate the glory of 90’s music, some of the bands from the past decade are still making music.

Weezer. These people are geniuses in so many angles. They inexplicably created geek rock. Each album they released since 1991 is a success. This year, Weezer gives us another color to listen to with their latest The Red Album.
Radiohead. This prodigious band started to astound listeners with their first album, Pablo Honey, in 1992. More success came with their second album, The Bends, which included Fake Plastic Trees, Just and High and Dry. Each release after that was even more definitive and unique. They were ahead of their time and experimented in music. Last year, they made their latest album available online for fans to purchase at their own price. The end to this is for people to realize the value of music.
Foo Fighters. Since Nivana’s unfortunate conclusion, Dave Grohl left the drums to front Foo Fighters. They kept listeners enthralled with Everlong and Walking After You in their first 1997 release, The Colour and the Shape. All the albums that came next were just as remarkable. Their latest is Echoes, Patience, Silence and Grace which was released last year.
Smashing Pumpkins. After Rotten Apples, their greatest hits compilation, one would think that Smashing Pumpkins would not release another album. But last year, fans were surprised to hear Billy Corgan’s voice singing for Smashing Pumpkins again. Though their latest, Zeitgeist, was recorded with only Billy Corgan and drummer Jimmy Chamberlin as the only original members left in the band, their sound is still as pleasantly haunting as ever.

Incubus. They define innovation. Each member of this band is extremely talented in his craft. Each album has something new to offer listeners, that’s why no matter how many albums they release, people don’t get tired of Brandon Boyd’s voice. Their latest release, Light Grenades, was 2 year ago but their influence does not dwindle. Since the funky Fungus Amongus in 1995.
Red Hot Chili Peppers. This has to be the strongest out of the other bands mentioned. They have been leaving audiences in awe since the 80’s. Their characteristic funky bass lines, sometimes melancholic lyrics and captivating guitar riffs, they managed to stay on top through the years. Their latest album, Stadium Arcadium, earned them a Grammy.
Though the rugged jeans, dirty sneakers, plaid polo shirts and the whole dirty grunge look faded away with the passing of the 90’s, the music lives on thanks to these geniuses.

How the hell can you call No Doubt and Green Day musical geniuses? That’s an embarrassment to the musical world everywhere.

hell no! No Doubt and Green Day might not be appealing to you, Mr. musical elitist, but they have helped to start a generation of new age rockers. What do you listen to anyway? Some Coachella or scenester band? Music is everywhere and we must learn how to appreciate all kinds of it. No Doubt and Green Day are probably one of the most reachable artists to every kid in USA.

Whoever wrote this seems to be judging on success rather than musical quality. Weezer has been going down ever since Pinkerton. “Their latest album, Stadium Arcadium, earned them a Grammy.” Since when does a Grammy mean anything? Feist was nominated for Best New Artist, yet she has been around in the indie scene for ages. You cant call her a new artist just because of your focus on mainstream music. I realize that views on music can be different, but RHCP stronger than Radiohead or Smashing Pumpkins? Seriously?
