Notorious radio (non-Hollywood) personality Don Imus is back in the hot seat for yet another racial remark. Since his first one, calling a team of female basketball players “nappy-headed hos,” he has then lost his show on CBS radio show and MSNBC telecast, and has moved onto another radio program where his comments were said to be “under surveillance.” It seems that those censorship stiffs finally stumbled onto something juicy.
During a show last Monday while discussing Adam “Pacman” Jones, the legendary Imus perpetuated an argument with sports announcer Warner Wolf. Their exchange of words are as follows–you can also hear it here.
Wolf: “He’s been arrested six times since being drafted by Tennessee in 2005.”
Imus: “What color is he?”
Wolf: “He’s African-American.”
Imus: “There you go. Now I know.”
Imus released a later statement saying, “”I meant that he was being picked on because he’s black.”
However, not many people aren’t really convinced. Among them is Civil Rights leader Rev. Al Sharpton. He had this to say:
“It has been reported to me that statements were made by Mr. Imus this morning and National Action Network has monitored his show since his return. I find the inference of his remark disturbing because it plays into stereotypes. Any use of stereotypes is always counterproductive. We will determine in the next day or so whether or not his remark warrants direct action on our part as we did in April of last year.“
