Finally Rainn Wilson is getting the spotlight he has long since deserved. After years of appearing as an extra or a sidekick in movies, just like any one who started out in Hollywood, he is getting his first lead role in an upcoming comedy The Rocker.
Solidifying his ownage of his character Dwight Schrute, in the U.S. version of The Office, and making us laugh in his cameos or small roles in countless movies, Wilson is set to star as Robert “Fish” Fishman, a failed drummer from the eighties who gets a second chance. Twenty years after he gets kicked out of his band Vesuvius, he joins kids almost half his age in order realize his lost dream of being a rockstar.
Directed by Peter Cattaneo, Wilson stars along side with Josh Gad, Emma Stone, and Christina Applegate. The Rocker will be released this coming August 1st.
