According to the ever trusty Dark Horizons, Martin Scorsese is nearing the closure of a million-dollar deal to direct a film about one of the greatest singers of all time Frank Sinatra.
Although without confirmation, it’s pretty clear that Scorsese is the perfect director to take on this project. The movie will be distributed by Universal Pictures and Frank’s youngest daughter is said to produce. Though this might sound real exciting especially to the folks in retirement homes all over the world, the daughter announced that they will leave-out issues of the famous singer’s association with the mafia. If you ask me, revelations on this unresolved legendary gossip is probably the only thing young people will watch the movie for, aside from that it’ll be just two hours of slow serenades and vintage cone microphones. But I bet our grand mothers wouldn’t mind.
Guesses as to who will play Sinatra is playing in my head like a gang of hamsters on crack. The first guy that came to my mind is Ewan McGregor. The actor looks like Sinatra and based on his resume, he can do it well. He’s been in Moulin Rouge and until now I can still hear Ewan singing Come What May and it’s almost like audio slavery. I’m pretty certain McGregor has enough skills to capture the hearts of oldies all around, he’s one of Hollywood’s most talented pricks. I just hope the movie’s premiere won’t take place beside a retirement home, unless they want an cane and wheelchair-infested flock of fans.
