With Wii Fit coming later this month, DS owners can have a small but satisfying taste of the fitness game revolution (it could happen).
Newly released is Konami’s Let’s Yoga! for the Nintendo DS. Though not really considered to be a game, more like an interactive instructional video, it does keep a score based on the user’s accumulated points regarding Flexibility, Energy, and Mind. The game offers a multitude of “poses”, from the basic sitting position to the more advanced Crane or Reverse Warrior pose, with an inhumanly flexible virtual instructor guiding you step by step. By doing each pose, points are awarded based on the area of a particular poses’ effectiveness.
Let’s Yoga! also offers a number of modes, adding a small amount of customization to the game. The player can choose to take separate in-depth lessons, which explains as well as guides you in learning the different aspects of Yoga. There’s random Yoga, wherein the game sets up a random workout depending on the time and difficulty the player sets at the start of a session. The player can also choose to customize their Yoga workout by selecting poses from a list. Lastly, if you find yourself in a tight space, or if you feel lethargic and overworked (don’t we all?) you can choose to do chair yoga exercises, which consists of poses that are effective even if you’re sitting on a chair.
Released with an identical twin titled Let’s Pilates!, Let’s Yoga! gives the player a good feeling of productivity and over all well being. It’s also good for the mind and body, and it just might help you achieve that killer Hollywood body you’ve always wanted to have.
