Nintendo expects a shortage of Wii’s this Christmas. So what else is new? Seeing that it’s hard to find no matter what time of the year it is, I guess it’s just Nintendo telling people to start getting in line and start coughing up dough NOW at your local Gamestop.
CEO of Gamestop, Dan Matteo, has this to say:
I’ve never seen this type of demand before. I know they’re making more, but we’re still short like everybody else. I think we’ll have a continued shortage this Christmas.
I have to admit, however, that I was a bit surprised by this. I didn’t know that many people (enough to cause a shortage) still wanted Wii’s. I’d expect that word should have gotten around by now that no one plays with their Wii’s after a month of having it.
So my suggestion is that people should just buy second hand Wii’s from people they know. Just wipe the dust off from it and it’s as good as “slightly used.” For those of you looking for Wii’s this Christmas, I’ll be selling mine to anyone who wants it. That way I can buy better crap like a used Dreamcast, and a new DS.
