It seems that American Idol finalist David Archuleta will be going solo for the last two weeks of the season.

His father Jeff has been reportedly banned from rehearsals by American Idol producers, following a rather controversial practice session.

It’s said that David’s dad “demanded” that a sample of Sean Kingston’s single Beautiful Girls be added into David’s rendition of Ben E. King’s Stand by Me. Apparently, the change cost the show additional “song-clearance fees.” Something that the producers weren’t too excited about.

Jeff Archuleta is somewhat well known to be a “stage dad.” Charlie Toft, part of an Idol coach panel has commented that “Of all the major teenage contestants Idol has ever had, David appears to be the most heavily programmed and least spontaneous, and his stereotypically showy way of singing suggests he and his father have been aiming at this goal for a long time.”
