Steven Sodebergh’s Che premiered last May 21 on Cannes and it has been getting nothing but positive reviews. The famous guerrilla legend biopic is actually separated into two films Argentine and Guerrilla, both two hours long. Instantly many would react with ridiculously advanced notions of boredom, but we feel otherwise. Nothing has made me jump up and down since news of Martin Scorsese’s Public Enemies, and once I heard that Scorsese will direct a Che Guevara biopic with cast member Del Toro in it, it felt like a cinematic daydream. As to how it will be presented and premiered to the masses, we have no idea. It may follow the same procedure Quentin Tarantino did to his Grindhouse cult marathon, where he played the movie back to back.
Benicio Del Toro’s performance as Che Guevara in this biopic is giving him Oscar-worthy praises, almost signing his name in the nominees as early as now. It’s no surprise that he did well, aside from him one other actor that’ll give justice to the role would be John Leguizamo, but Del Toro is obviously the better choice.
The premiere of Che is still to be announced, and the first clip from the much-anticipated movie, or shall we say movies, is now released at the Cannes website.
