It’s probably not even news anymore, since the Cavs losing to the Celtics is something that all basketball fans know by now. But we’ll say it anyway: after an exciting series, the Cleveland Cavaliers were defeated by the Boston Celtics. It was a good run for the Cavs, they did not go gently into that good night.
Seeing that Boston’s playoff record was 7-0 for home games coming into game seven, the Cav’s defeat was somewhat of a death foretold. Having the home crowd advantage should be considered as cheating especially if it’s in the Boston Garden. All those noisy Irish people really know to take the spirit out of any visiting team, or maybe they just never forget to bring their Lucky Charms.
LeBron James might have scored a whopping 45 points, beating Paul Pierce’s 41, but the Celtics still managed to hold off LeBron and company for a 97-92 victory. It looks like King James has to postpone his championship victory dance this year. He might even need newer, and a little bit better, teammates for next season. Not that Ilgauskus and Wallace and the rest of the boys aren’t good, maybe they ‘re just getting too old. It may also be true that James is still a youngster. He doesn’t have that Michael Jordan like ability when under pressure (excuse the overly used comparison by the way). There’s just a thin line which separates a great player to a stuff of legends. For James, it could’ve been the last 4 seconds in game 7 to make the three. We all know what happened there.
Anyway, at least the chosen one still has a lot going for him. He still has his endorsements, and no one can still argue with his uncanny skill. But until next season, he might want to look into being an action star in Hollywood, since he’s not going to be anything until November rolls along.
