Hollywood, is taking interest in one of the most anticipated video games of last year. Kane and Lynch is set to have a movie version sometime next year. Recent news have announced that Bruce Willis is being casted to play the part of Kane.
While the game was anticipated, as well as popular, it wasn’t the very best in terms of overall quality. In fact, it took center stage regarding a controversial review on gamespot.com, which in a way cost the editor in chief’s (at that time) his job. To make a long story short, the game was hyped up but didn’t deliver.
Hopefully, the movie won’t suffer a similar fate as the videogame. The story has a good premise after all. It introduces two unique characters who are direct opposites, which is great if we consider or anticipate where the plot would take us. Kane is the experienced mercenary and the proverbial “brain”, while Lynch is the bucking bronco who is obviously the “brawn.” The two, despite their differences and hate for each other, find themselves working together to retrieve a stolen microchip that is worth a lot of money. As the story progresses, we learn that Kane “has everything to lose,” while Lynch “has everything to gain.”
The film, if ever it does see the light of day, will be director Simon Crane’s debut movie. His past experiences was as a second unit director for films such as Hancock, Troy, Mr. and Mrs. Smith, and X-Men: The Last Stand. The original script was written by Kyle Ward, and talks have been going around about who is destined for the role of Lynch.
As of present, Willis is working with Crane (who is the stunt director) for the upcoming Disney movie The Surrogates.
