With the success of the Eee Pc Laptop, especially with users who are on a budget and just want the bare necessities from a computer, Asus is ready to introduce a desktop version that provides a little more power but will most likely maintain its economical standard.

The Asus Eee Box B202 will run with a Linux operating system, an Intel Atom processor and 945 chipster, 1 Gigabyte DDR2 RAM, with an 80 Gigabyte hard drive.

It’s almost as portable as its laptop brethren, weighing in a mere 2.2 pounds. But don’t expect to get the same “wow” factor as an Alienware desktop, actually the casing looks like a tacky rip-off between a Wii and an Apple TV with a silhouette design of God knows what. Flowers maybe? On the other side, it’s bubbles or rain drops? Still, I don’t get it.

However, if it’s easy on your wallet and it gets the job done you’ll tend to overlook its design. Just don’t expect to play Crysis or Gears of Wars 2 with it anytime soon.
