It looks like dubbed songstress Ashlee Simpson and Fallout Boy’s chick magnet bassist Pete Wentz has tied the knot with style. The said “top-secret” event last Saturday evening was even called a “fairytale wedding.” Some 150 guests showed up, wishing the new couple all the luck the world. Fellow good-wishers included Nicole Richie, Hollywood actor Donald Faison, and of course older sister Jessica as the maid of honor. And no, there weren’t any casting calls or auditions for voice actors, or lipsync technicians present to fill in for Ashlee as she shared her vows and said “I do.” It really was her voice, honest.
Jessica stole the spotlight for a brief moment, showing off her “still” boyfriend and NFL star Tony Romo. But Ashlee quickly brought back the attention to her as she donned an ivory laced Monique Lhuillier gown. We might not have any pictures but rest assured if a dress is done by someone’s whose last name we can’t pronounce it has to be expensive.
As for the infamous stage dad/pimp Joe Simpson, it was said that, being a former Baptist minister, he was the one who performed the “non-denominational” service. I guess he’s quite the all-around dad. Also, Pete’s bulldog Hemingway (much to the discredit of one of the greatest writers of all time) was the ring bearer, lubricating the rings with slobber before the couple slid it on each other fingers.
News articles have reported that the reception had an Alice in Wonderland theme with all the trimmings to help make it a wedding fit for rich and tacky people. The wedding cake featuring a top hat, a tea pot, a stopwatch, and flowers on top was made by Sam Godfrey. Though his name’s not that too hard to say out loud it’s still silly enough to warrant attention.
Some speculate the wedding was due to Ashlee being pregnant. Rumors have been flying around that Ashlee is with child, but the couple has denied to comment on any such matter. If you ask us, it makes no difference. They’re still going to make good looking kids and bad music anyway.
