Ever since Wednesday, most of America is screaming praises for David Cook. With a margin of over 12 million votes it’s blatantly obvious that America has made their distinct choice on who is worthy to be this year’s idol. But what about the other David? The poor kid had to endure all the pressure of fame in such a haste only for it to be taken away just as quickly. It’s such a sad story that would probably reverse the votes of some people if they considered it for a moment. However, just because Archuleta’s Idol hopes have been snatched away, it certainly doesn’t mean utter defeat. In fact, it may even be a blessing in disguise.

Many Idol fans attribute many different factors as to why Archuleta lost this year, or placed second to make it sound less degrading. An article in MTV News suggests, out of five different reasons, that Archuleta came into the first half as a sure-fire win. They even went as far as using the disappointing metaphor of the Patriots. When all is said and done, people like to see the underdog come out victorious, in this case Cook.

Others say that it’s all because of a daytime show called Ellen. The host, Ellen Degeneres…Duh, made it clear that her choice for this year was Cook. We are all pretty much aware how these household icons’ influential charisma are only rivaled by God, or Oprah. Most people think that pretty much did it for Archuleta before the finals.

Lastly, another factor might have been Archuleta’s infernal “stage dad.” Therefore, it wasn’t that America wanted the son to lose, but it was more like they wanted to humiliate the father for being such a “stage dad” (nuff’ said).

With all that said, since Archuleta is past all that negative presumptions we could say that he has nowhere else to go but up, again. America’s love of the underdog might now be beneficial for Archuleta. The tables have turned. Though him being sympathized as an underdog might not come instantaneously, rest assured that when everybody has grown tired of singing praises for David Cook, Archuleta will have his chance once again.

Many industry analysts have also commented that Archuleta is not without any potential deals or contracts. His young and developing persona is a perfect fit for Disney productions, ala Hannah Montana and the Jonas Brothers. While others say that he could also take the path of Josh Groban, since he could definitely appeal to an older audience. Now, all he needs to do is to get rid of his dad, then all would be set.
